General Pressure Washer Pump

When it comes to pressure washers, the main thing that breaks down on them is the pump.

These are the devices that pump the water from the tank into the high pressure sprayer, and due to the water pump high pressure, they tend to wear out the fastest. For companies that use commercial washers on a regular basis, it is important not to let a sprayer sit idle for too long. It is also quite a bit less expensive to replace the part itself rather than have to buy a whole new unit.

General pressure washer pumps come in different categories. There is the direct drive pump, and shaft models. Direct drive pumps are very similar for both gas powered motors as well as electric motors. Shaft models  have a belt driven shaft that connects the motor to the pumping mechanism inside the unit itself. One the shaft driven models, a drive shaft extends out of the pump, and a belt pulley, or geared cog is attached at the end. In general, both models have most of the same characteristics on the inside.

When looking for general pressure washer pump parts and accessories, it is important that you find the right pump. You should either check with your owner's manual or look on the pump itself for a serial number, and use that when ordering. There are a lot of different sites that sell pumps, but there are some things you need to be on the look out for. While cheaper than buying a whole new washer, the pumps themselves aren't cheap. You need to make sure that the manifold is made from forged brass, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Many companies offer not only General Pumps, all with lifetime warranties and forged brass manifolds, but many other different brands of pumps and washer accessories. Ultimate Washer even has complete rebuild kits for people who are more comfortable taking apart their pumps and rebuilding them.

Here are a few examples of General pump parts that are sold by both companies, starting with Ultimate Washer. One of the pump groups they offer is the TP Series, Direct drive pump. There are three different models to choose from, 2.6-3gpm, with pressures to 2500 PSI. All are triplex models, and have features like standard forged brass manifolds, and ceramic plungers. If you feel more comfortable with aluminum or stainless steel, these are optional as well. No matter what the GPM capacity is, here are the things that are the same.

This series has an inlet pressure of 80 PSI maximum, with a water temperature no higher than 165 degrees. It has an inlet thread of 3/8th"and a discharge thread of ¼." All of these pumps measure 7"x7.2"x5.5," have a 19mm shaft diameter and an oil crankcase of 11.2 ounces. All three models have 15mm bores, with a stroke of either 6.6mm, or 7.2mm.

There is also the EZ Series Direct drive General Pressure Washer Pump. These triplex plunger type pumps are for up to 16HP gas, or electric motors. They also come standard with hollow shafts, as well as a forged brass manifold. As mentioned earlier, the manifolds come with a lifetime warranty. This series allows for a maximum inlet pressure of up to 125PSI, and the same maximum temperature. The Inlet and discharge threads are 1/2" and 3/8" respectively.
